DNB registration and Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA)

As a result of the implementation of the Fifth Anti-Money Laundering Directive (AMLD5) in January 2020, crypto parties now must comply with the European anti-money laundering regulations. This has led to a registration requirement for certain crypto service providers.

The European Commission has recently published a proposal for the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation. This MiCA regulation aims to regulate crypto markets within the EU. After the MiCA regulation comes into force, crypto assets that are not yet within the scope of the legislation, will need to be licensed. From then onwards, they are subject to supervision and are expected to comply with the legal obligations.

A license under the MiCA regulation is different from the current DNB registration regime for crypto service providers who are active in the Netherlands. Therefore, it is important to apply for a license in time. Charco & Dique can help you obtain a regulatory license.

Wwft compliance
